The Pearl district, or Pearl as locals call it, was once home to the Pearl Brewing company in the late 1800s. It has a fascinating evolution through prohibition, competition, power struggles and finally new life as a cultural hub.

A Letter from the Editor

2017 brought exciting developments that have greatly enriched our neighborhood. We have welcomed Hiatus Spa, Cellars and Bottling Department Food Hall to Pearl proper and have seen our larger neighborhood evolve with the additions of Down on Grayson and West Elm.

In November, the International Office of ULI announced that Pearl was selected as one of the winners of Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) 2017-2018 Global Awards for Excellence, which is widely recognized as one of the land use industry’s most prestigious award programs.

We’re thrilled Pearl is being celebrated as one of the nation and world’s most thoughtful development spaces alongside many other notable urban developments. Over the last decade, Pearl’s vision has always been about revitalizing a neighborhood and growing into a communal gathering space. We thank the amazing partners in our community and the citizenry of San Antonio and South Texas who have brought this neighborhood back to life.

We hope you’ll stay in touch with us as we get ready to announce some exciting events and special programming for fall and our Holiday season. Sign up for our newsletter and follow-us on social media to stay current.
